Born in Fengyuan, Taichung in 1906. Gained admission into Taipei Normal
University in 1920 and was taught by Kinichiro Ishikawa. Yang devoted his
life to art and showed at several exhibits. He was chosen to exhibit his oeuvres in the Paris Spring Salon
Show, Japanese Art Exhibition, Brazil's International Art Exhibition and
other international showcases.
Yang Chi-Tong excels at oil painting and non-transparent water color.
His painting style is relentless yet rigorous and magnificent with
class. He once hoped to complete his "One Hundred Beauty Painting;"
usually containing girls resembling models. Usage of lines is
free flowing, colors have vibrant touches in sketching a girl's
posture. The display of colors is combined with 3 important elements:
color image, saturation and brightness. This brings forward a delicate
and exquisite style on canvas.
