Gerald David Rahm

A resident of Los Angeles, California, Gerald Rahm is a pastel artist who focuses on city subjects--buildings, people, and vegetation. He is a member of the California Art Club and is inspired by Emil Kosa, Jr., scene painter.

He attributes influences on his work to the painting of John Singer Sargent and William Merritt Chase; his favorite medium is pastel. He works with the palm of his hand and fingers, as though they were brushes.

Rahm works on as many as five paintings a day, and often walks to the scenes he wishes to paint, pulling a 70-pound hand cart loaded with painting supplies. He visits his locations at various times of the day to capture the most effective patterns of light and usually finishes them en plein air.Displaying 750 of 2647 characters.
