Chuck Zimmer is active/lives in Tennessee, New Mexico. Chuck Zimmer is known for abstraction, printmaking.
Chuck Zimmer lived in Memphis, Tennessee and then moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in the late 1990s. His paintings are composed with his hands and fingers and are intended to provoke emotion and are frequently dark and mysterious. For his printmaking, he uses his own handmade paper and often incorporates sewing into the prints, which are torn and then repaired with needle and thread.
"I have always sought to create a truly authentic series of landscapes. My current works are actually buried in the ground, accompanied by various sizes and shapes of cut metal. The moisture from rain, snow, and spring run-off oxidizes the metal and creates an adhesion that "prints" on the canvas. The shapes and colors are determined by my choices of materials, location, and duration of exposure. Although I choose the position and elements of composition for each piece, the outcome is ultimately influenced by the serendipitous forces of nature. These pieces do not represent elements and forces of nature, they are formed by them."
