She studied at the University of California in Los Angeles between 1945
and 1947 and in 1956 took watercolor classes in Tokyo, Japan. She

portraits of motion-picture personalities such as Lew Wasserman and
Jules Stein and of the parents of Microsoft founder, Bill Gates.
Sargent is married to a descendant of the portrait painter, John

received commissions to paint military portraits of West Point
personnel including General Alexander Hague, and the first female
graduates of the Academy.
