Al (Alfred) Jackson


Al Alfred Jackson, was an African-American artist, who was born in the 1940’s. He studied art at the American Academy in Chicago, Illinois. For a time he was employed as a commercial artist and then painted mostly still life paintings. 

He was fascinated with  water drops and South Western pottery. He would sit at his easel for hours at a time, painting and repainting a drop of moisture or the stem of a vegetable or fruit. 

Alfred Jackson won many first place gold medals for his realistic still life paintings. He participated in the Annual Gold Coast as well as the 57th Street Art Fairs. He battled a debilitating disease of diabetes for a large portion of his life and was a recluse who did not want t  ...  Displaying 750 of 1549 characters.
