Biography from the Archives of askART

The following is from Roxanne Kelly, VP Hadrian's Auction Galleries, Inc.

I am writing to you about an American artist, Gaylord Wilkinson, whose works were brought to Hadrian's Auction Galleries attention last November by a relative of the artist in the Naples area here in Florida. She has consigned works of his for auction. Apparently he was very prolific and well known, especially in the Palm Beach, Florida, area later in his life.

The following information was made known to us by his relative:
Born 1903, Darlington, WI.
Degree in Teaching
Graduated Art Institute in Chicago
World Traveler, painted many works abroad as well as in USA

Painted many watercolors of different parts of USA, many still retained by family members. Did oils, but not very many apparently.

Subject matter: Still Lifes, Landscapes, Buildings, Shipboard scenes, Rural, Tropical, and figures.

Was pictured on cover of Life or Look in late 1950s (as part of Palm Beach scene)
Lived at #2 Four Arts Plaza, Palm Beach, FL.
Member of Four Arts Association in Palm Beach
Lineal direct descendant of Davie Crockett (I thought very interesting!)
Full name: Gaylord F. Hardwick Wilkinson
