A painter of abstraction, Marianne Murdock in 2002 completed a "Tribute to Pearl", a mixed-media work of art (acrylic/collage/ink on board). She says she does not usually respond to such tragedies with artwork but was somehow emotionally driven by Danny Pearl's death to create this.
"A very special coincidence concerning an old Spanish retablo of "Santos Nino de Atocha" played a part in the creation of this piece," said Murdock. I also had not realized that Danny's wife and I shared the same first name until I was working on the piece. It was all very inspired."
