Julio Pro studied music in college and upon graduation joined the military and served in the Korean War. In 1960 Pro became an anesthesiologist and still practices part time today. In 1980 Julio Pro decide to study art and attended night school. At first, his medium of choice was pencil and colored pencil. Later he immersed himself in painting with oils.

Wildlife became his favorite subject and in 2002 His painting "Turkeys in the Straw" was accepted into the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum Birds in Art Show.

Julio Pro's subject matter deals with wildlife, Native Americans and the American Cowboy.  His works are in the permanent collections of the Leigh-Yawkey-Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin, the Will Rogers Museum, Claremore, Oklahoma and the United States Air Force Collection, The Pentagon, Washington, D.C.  

Museum exhibitions include:  Museum of Wildlife Art (Jackson Hole, Wyoming), C.M. Russell Museum (Great Falls, Montana), Leigh-Yawkey-Woodson Art Museum (Wausau, Wisconsin); West Valley Art Museum (Phoenix, Arizona).  California Museum Exhibitions include:  Pasadena Museum of California Art; Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art at Pepperdine University; Los Angeles Museum of Science & Industry.

Education:
California Art Institute (1981-1986) Instructors include Fred Fixler, Mark Westermoe, Neil Boyle
Continuous Workshops at the Scottsdale Artists School. Instructors include Robert Abbett, Ted Goerschner, Gary Carter.
