Florence Ann McWhinney Anderson was also known as Mrs. S. S. Anderson. She was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on November 11, 1874. She was appreciated for her paintings of the Southwest area around El Paso, TX. Native American Indian pueblos were a favorite.

She was a pupil of The Art Institute of Chicago, Alice Mitchell, Elmer L. Boone, Berla Emeree and Leola Freeman.

She was a member of the Hoosier Salon Patron's Association and the Texas Fine Arts Association.

Exhibited:
TAFW- Annual Exhibition by Texas Artists, Fort Worth Art Museum
EPWCE- El Paso Women's Club Exhibition 1934.
EPSJ - El Paso San Jacinto Ploaza Exhibition 1934.

Listed in Mallett's, WWWAA, American Art Annual Biographical Directory of American Painters and Sculptors, Dictionary of Texas Artists 1800 to 1945.
