Emily Delia Anderson

Biography from the Archives of askART

Emily Delia Anderson was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts in 1899. She trained in Boston and returned home for most of her career.

She was noted primarily for seascapes and nautical scenes of the Cape Ann region painted in an impressionistic style.

Her miniatures of the Rockport/Gloucester coast were popular and sold briskly to visitors to Gloucester in the 1930's.

Harborside boat scenes and Bass Rock oils were her "bread and butter".

She studied at Massachusetts School Art; School of Practical Art Boston, and with Meyer Both.
