David Olson was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1943. He moved to New York City and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute in 1965 and a Master of Fine Arts from Boston University in 1967.
His interest in drawing led him to experiment with line etching techniques in the early 1970's. He works in a detailed, realistic style and hand-colors his etchings with watercolors to add vibrancy to each print. Family and other personal experiences provide much of the creative force in his work.
Today, Olson resides in New Hampshire, and his work is featured in many galleries throughout New England. In addition to the United States, Olson's work can be seen in Canada, Japan, Europe, and Australia. Some of the major American cities include Boston, New York, Washington, DC, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Albuquerque, St. Louis, Fort Worth, San Francisco, and New Orleans.
