Gabriela G. Dellosso is a native New Yorker, she grew up in Queens, Astoria.
Her interest in art started very early on. As a child, she can remember weekend trips to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with her father, who studied art in his youth.
In middle school she received an award from Pepsi Cola for being an outstanding Art student.
She initially started out as a psychology major at NYU, but she decided to switch to the School of Visual Arts where she received a BFA. Her real training started at The Art Student's League where she studied painting and drawing from life with instructors like Richard Pionk, Gregg Kreutz, Harvey Dinnerstein, MaryBeth McKenzie, and Peter Cox.

She worked illustrating for a few years, simultaneously to studying at the League and considers this an extremely valuable experience. The challenges that were presented to her constantly honed her drawing, painting and compositional skills.
After this period, Gabriela decided that she wanted to create her own, more personal pictures and decided to dedicate herself to making her own paintings and drawings.

Best in Show-Arnot Art Museum's 70th Regional
She received The Phil Desind Award (2003) from the Butler Institute of American Art. This is the top award given annually at their Juried Annual to an outstanding representational work, in honor of the late Phil Desind. Phil Desind was named "Collector of the Year" in 1987, by The Washington Post. When he passed away in 1996, the Post wrote that Phil Desind's collection was a trove of top-notch 20th Century realism.
Silver Medal of Honor-Allied Artist's of America 91st Annual
Gold Medal of Honor (2003) from the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. This is the Club's highest award given at their Annual Open Juried Exhibition.
Anna Hyatt Huntington Horses Head Trophy (2004) from the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. This is their highest award given annually at their members show. Anna Hyatt, a famous sculptress, has her work collected in about 200 US museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The trophy is an original sculpture by Anna Hyatt.
Presidential Commission for the Salmagundi Club. The portrait of "Ed Brennan" is in the Salmagundi Club's permanent collection and currently on display. Gabriela is the first woman in Salmagundi Club history to have been commissioned to paint a presidential portrait.
Of Ecuadorian and Cuban descent, New York artist Gabriela Gonzalez Dellosso paints figures, clowns and self-portraits that convey the complex and conflicting emotions inherent in all people.
Dellosso attended the School of Visual Arts, the Art Student's League and the National Academy of Fine Arts in New York. She is a representational artist and paints her dramatic figures in oil.
