Lee Jackson


Painter Born New York February 2, 1909. Education : New York University; Art Students League; independent study with John Sloan and George Luks. Holdings : Metropolitan Museum of Art; Corcoran Gallery; Walker art Center; Hirschhorn Museum. Exhibits : 56th Annual Paintings Art Institute of Chicago; Whitney Museum of American Art; American Painting Today 1950 at Metropolitan Museum of Art; 23rd Biennial Corcoran Gallery; 140th Annual National Academy of Design. Teaching : Instructor painting and drawing School of Art Studies; Instructor painting and drawing City College of New York. Awards : Guggenheim Fellowship; Thomas B. Clarke Prize National Academy of Design.
