Biography  
Joseph Johnson


The older brother of artist David Johnson (1827-1908), Joseph Johnson began working as a portrait painter in the early 1840s but is described as having "evident lack of professional ambition." He did paint a portrait of his brother, which is in the collection of the National Academy of Design.
