Anartist who spent time in California and Arizona, Fritz (Friedrich) was born in Vienna, Austria, and studied in Munich at the National Academy of Fine Arts and privately with Hans Tichy in Vienna as well as at the Vienna Imperial Academy and the Academy des Beaux Arts in Paris.
By 1932, he was a resident of Los Angeles, California, having spent many years in Argentina, and then moved to New York by 1938 but from 1936 to 1941, spent his winters in Chandler, Arizona.
"Always on the move, he followed portrait commissions all over the world until he settled in La Jolla, California. He died there on April 1, 1994."
