RUSSELL MORETON 1929 - 1994

Born in Chicago in 1929, Russell Moreton received his formal art training at the Art Institute of Chicago and later worked with such notables as E.L. Spurgeon, Marcus L. Prince, Charles S. Crockett, and Frank Hamilton.

After his studies, he developed his own unique style as he lived and traveled throughout the United States, Mexico, Japan, and the islands of the Pacific. His winters were spent roaming the Pacific coast from Puget Sound to Cabo San Lucas. For six full years he lived in Baja, California, Mexico where he flew his plane to uninhabited and virtually unexplored areas in order to study and paint the magnificent Sea of Cortez.
