Here I am
Blair Cunningham (12/10/2008)
I emailed you Mr. Stoval, but in case you missed it, feel free to contact me. My father was quite good friends with Benny and recorded some interesting memories about the time they spent together in a little-known internet-published book (a biography of sorts, of my father.) I would be happy to share Bufano info with you for you project.

Bufano? pewter miniature animals
Brian (09/29/2008)
I am an antique/art dealer and I have acquired a set of small pewter animals along with a wood "plateau" for display. The plateau has "B. Bufano" handwritten in block letters and the animals do indeed resemble Bufano's work. I can find no info on the internet about a cast set of Bufano miniatures. Each piece has a very small hallmark which might be "800" but they look more like pewter than 800 silver. Any help?

Bufano's prophry bull
B Cunningham (07/12/2004)
My family's estate is in possession of a large (multi-ton) bull with bronze (brass?) horns. It was carved in the south of France in the 30's with the help of my father, John Cunningham, who was Benny's friend. It is one of a kind. I would like to inquire as to whether it's known or documented anywhere. My father had it shipped from France in the 70's after it was willed to him by the original owners, also friends of my father and Benny. It currently resides in Monterey County, Ca., but is not on public display. Any Bufano historians out there? Thank you.

I am searching for more info about the terrazo head that was a study made before the Peace statue that used to be at San Franciso airport. Head sets on a Redwood base.

bufano and arizona
Patti Cassidy (12/14/2003)
You may be interested to note that Bufano was in Asia while he was working on Tucson's Pioneer's Monument, the first public sculpture in that city. It was a frustrating time for all involved. It is also quite a departure, I think from his earlier things, since it's a quite classical bas relief bench.

Benny Bufano
Jacqueline Butler-Diaz (10/20/2003)
Arizona State University (Arizona Collections) holds the journals of George W. P. Hunt, former governor of Arizona and Minister to Siam. In the journals, Minister Hunt describes his friendship with Bufano and the time period when Bufano was creating the sculpture bust of Hunt that is currently in the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Bufano is described in biographical notes as having traveled in China and India but I have yet to read of his time in Siam. Hunt's journal notes for 1920 are revealing of this little known period of Bufano's life.
