La Salle oil paintingDarcy Adams
Am making contact on behalf of Gus Altfillisch who is in possession of a 12" by 16" (on board) oil painting which is signed in the lower right corner by "La Salle". It appears to be a 'plains' type painting emphasizing a barn with a wooden-railed fence and a small home with a windmill in the background. Season appears to be spring with oat colored natural grass everywhere and a rather large sized mountain range further in the background.
Does this sound like something Charles La Salle may have painted during his travels in the western states of America?

Did LaSalle ever work in chalks. Did he do works that are landscapes as well. I have a chalk work from the early 1900's that we can hardly make out the artists name. It looks a little like LaSalle. Any help would be appreciated

I have been familiar with Charles LaSalle's work since I was a child. The model for the "single cowboy in chaps carrying a saddle and tack" was "Speed" Richardson. He and members of his family were models for Mr.LaSalle. They had a riding stable in Paradise Valley. The paintings capture the very essence of the subject perfectly and beautifully.

I have a 24 x 30 oil on board painting that is dated either 1924 or 1929 by a "Charles Lassell". It is of a cowboy walking beside a mule with a pack on its back. I just had all of the nicotine cleaned off of it by Southwest Gallery in Dallas, Texas. I have taken pictures of it and imported them into a PowerPoint document. I think this artist is really Charles LaSalle. His signature is really clear on this painting. This painting was given to my parents by some friends who lived in Ridgewood, New Jersey around 1967. They thought their "Texas" friends would enjoy it. On the back of the painting it someone wrote, "Property of Charles Bowman". I do not know who that is. I would be interested in someone identifying the artist.
My Father Charles LaSalleJulie LaSalle
I am one of two daughters of Charles LaSalle. My father died when I was 10 yrs. old. but I have very fond memories of watching him paint in his studio in Paradise Valley near Scottsdale, AZ. I have over ten original oil and watercolor paintings at my home. My sister in Mass. has 20 original illustrations. We both are interested in keeping it in our families. Please contact me if you have any information regarding the whereabouts of his art work.
