A Tribute to Dan, Artist and Teacher
Jaymes Helmstetler (11/21/2004)
Ghost Dance Rising As seen by a soaring Littlehawk Write Buffalo consecrates vision, man who muses upon sweetgrass rising from red rocks seething; then to the east, burly, creme head left on sunlight. Come, come out of the earth buffalo children, as men. Resurrection. Holy sweat, transition, not human, not animal, not winged ones, Holy Great Spirit. Watch! Jerusalem hails your unblemish to repose a sacrifice on an alter of their despair! As lamb, I am, twice to you in my oneness. What brings an Eagle dancing as a man makes no difference, death and life blend beyond. Jaymes Milton Helmstetler Copyright ©2004 Littlehawk Helmstetler

Dan Lomaheftewa
Eisu Helmstetler (11/20/2004)
Dan, as he once personally related to me, paints his dreams. We have seen the grandfather spirits dancing as sparks in the dark of the sweat together. His work is noteworthy and of considerable mention. Better than his art work, is the sculpting that he fathered in raising his son to be a man, but more, to be an honest man.
