Years ago I was fortunate enough to visit Goldfield's Gallery in LA, and begin to learn something of this artist. I have owned 3 of his works, and followed his market now for 25 years or so. There are LOTS of paintings being offered "by" EAP, which are obviously NOT. Be careful when buying anything at a price that seems too good to be true.

Edgar Payne, was my first old master I worked with and stayed with in his studio...We painted the high sierra's, and I also learned to paint redrock country of New Mexico. He was a friend and great man!

I happened upon a great article in the Orange County Weekly on the web, by Rebecca Schoenkopf . The article reflects on the work of Edgar Payne but highlights the work of his wife Elsie Palmer Payne who is a lesser known artist but greatly appreciated by those who are familiar with her.
