Years ago I was fortunate enough to visit Goldfield's Gallery in LA, and begin to learn something of this artist. I have owned 3 of his works, and followed his market now for 25 years or so. There are LOTS of paintings being offered "by" EAP, which are obviously NOT. Be careful when buying anything at a price that seems too good to be true.

Hello I have a second edition (1946) of Edgar Payne’s Composition of Outdoor Painting and would like to know if you could tell me how I could find out its value. Thank you Sue Hasty

Edgar and Elsie Payne
L. Miller (06/27/2003)
I happened upon a great article in the Orange County Weekly on the web, by Rebecca Schoenkopf . The article reflects on the work of Edgar Payne but highlights the work of his wife Elsie Palmer Payne who is a lesser known artist but greatly appreciated by those who are familiar with her. The article is filled with interesting tid-bits about the Payne's and thier carreers. I believe the article can be found at this addess: http://www.ocweekly.com/ink/02/36/art-schoenkopf.php
