I have a collection of sketches for costumes used in a June 1929 Pageant, Arabian Nights, presented by the Royal Rosaria in Portland, Oregon. I believe these are sketches by Francis Tipton Hunter. In addition to the sketches i have page 4 of the June 13, 1929 Oregonian with details of the production. Credits for costumes and scenery were given to Florence Holmes Gerke, but my internet search for that name reference him as a landscape architech.

Frances Tipton Hunter
Beverly Bellamy (09/18/2006)
Frances was a relative of mine. My mother and her brother were used in several of her paintings. Two of which were the Fisk Time to Retire Ad and the other was the Hershey Chocolate ad with the little girl and boy eating the large pieces of Chocolate cake, this picture was on the front of the Hershey 1934 cook book. I also am trying to learn more about Frances and her other paintings as my mother and uncle have passed on. I no longer have a resource. There was a great article about her in the June-July 1980 Modern Maturity magazine. I welcome all emails concerning her. Frances also illistrated the book Boots the cat.

Frances Tipton Hunter paintings
Stephen Franzoi (09/12/2003)
In addition to the biography that I have supplied to "Ask.Art," I would be interested in learning anything else about the artist's life, as well as information anyone has about the "Sleeping Infant" painting in Hunter's "Ask.Art" file, which I currently own. Has anyone ever seen this as an advertisement in an old magazine?
