I new Fred and his wife who lived at 600 E Olive in Burbank. I have some of his art and makeup artist things.

More on Fred Williams, Artist to the stars.

I have also learned that Fred L Williams was also well known for the makeup artistry of Lucille Ball. Mr. Williams kept an apartment in Burbank as an artist studio and even after his death in 1990, the rent would be paid on the first of each month. Except for his belongings, it set unoccupied for more than a decade. It has been said that the apartment below was haunted, the previous owner of the building was murdered by her nephew in the apartmentment below the one he leased. More of his artwork should be appearing!

Fred Williams, Perhaps Hollywoods best kept secret. Fred Williams was as a Hollywood makeup artist in cinema projects. Introduced to Jerry Lewis, (The American comedian, actor, singer, film producer, screenwriter and film director.) in 1960's, He begun working on numerous of Mr. Lewis' films, many as uncredited art director or sketch artist for storyboards and set concepts. [*] Portrait artist [*] Realism [*] Worked mostly in oils on canvas. [*]Clients were Hollywood stars such as Yule Brynner, James Cagney, Jerry Lewis, Peter Lorre, Loretta Young, and John Wayne. [*] Commissioned work also included the celebrities family portraits, their children, animals and homes. One of his most known works was the painting of Jerry Lewis as the "Sad Clown", as it quickly became identified as his 'alter ego' French comic and mime Pierre Etaix. Another popular artwork was that of fellow makeup artist Ben Lane. A 1972 artwork of a hobo clown. Mr. Lane occasionally dressed as a loveable hobo clown when he did charitable work for the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children. ex libris Antique Helper

I own a delightful 24"W X 30"H Oil Painting Signed lower right "Fred Williams '62" It is an image of a young lady standing in front of a red wing back armchair holding a white cat. She is wearing a long blue dress with white apron front. The Ragedy Ann doll on floor is also wearing blue dress with white bib. This painting is nicely done. The quality of this piece makes me believe there has to be many more out there by this artist. I would love to know about this talented artist. Lets get this discussion started and see what we can find out!
