Freeman Thorpe is well known for portraits of Washington, DC politicians in the late 1800s. My cousin and I have a portrait of our great-grandmother, Cora Putnam, signed in script "Thorp 1886". The signature is identical to Freeman Thorpe's signature on at least two of his more famous Washington, DC portraits. Based on family history, it makes sense that Cora was painted in the Cleveland, Ohio area. I am seeking information about where and when Thorpe was active as a portrait painter in Ohio, and details of his work in Ohio, (but not of his work in Washington because that seems to be well documented).
