NEW Art Book will include Guy WigginsLes Fox
N.Y. Times bestselling authors Les and Sue Fox are doing research for a new book titled "The Art Buyers Handbook" to be published in 2011 or 2012. This book will feature stories of real people who bought valuable art at garage sales, flea markets, local auctions and estate sales. Did you know that a masterpiece by Joseph Decker ("Ripening Pears") was bought at a garage sale in 2001 for $5, and sold to the National Gallery Of Art in 2004...for $1,000,000? If you or someone you know has purchased a genuine painting by Guy Wiggins for a fraction of its AskArt value, we would like to publish your story in our book. Your name will be kept confidential, unless you want us to publish it. The facts must be verified, and we will need photos of your painting (original oil or watercolor, not a print, lithograph or limited edition.) Thank you. Les Fox. signing and InscribingMr Henri
Is anyone familiar with Wiggins signing and inscribing a painting on the verso once it was gifted or sold, even years after completion? or did he sign and inscribe upon completion, only?

Every so often I hear rumors of a book. Any truth to this?

I am the State Archivist of Connecticut working at the Connectocut State Library. I am working on a project funded by the legislature to identify arts and sculptors who worked for the Connecticut Federal Art Project (FAP) of the WPA during the New Deal and inventory their works from existing records. Based on records of the CT FAP, I have created biographical files for 146 artists.
Guy C. Williams was not listed as one. Since he lived and worked in Connecticut and New York City, there may be a chance that he worked for the New York WPA.
Does anyone know whether he worked for either the Connecticut or New York FAP's or for both? Any information would be appreciated.

I've searched and searched, and have found numerous paintings listed here on askart.com. Is there a general list of every painting he painted during his career...I'm looking for a specific scene in New York which has not been recently auctioned or sold, so appears to be in a private collection somewhere. He seems to have painted primarily 5th, Wall st., Broadway, The Plaza.......are there other locations as well?

My grandparents, Ruth and Beaufort Newsom, who lived in Clinton, CT until 1970 knew Guy Wiggins. He painted my grandmother's garden. He titled the painting, "Ruth's Garden". She always regretted not having bought the painting. I would dearly love to know its whereabouts.
