I have a bronze horse & man statue signed R. Donaldson. Can anyone tell me anything about this artist. Best regards, N.J.

I was a freshman at Northwestern University in Evanston when Jeff was teaching there and I was in one of his courses. I was one of a cadre of students that helped him put on the African American Art Conference he sponsored there in 1968. I don't think I would be of much use to you as a source as even my memory of which artists attended is virtually no existent not myself being an artist or art major. However, I have wondered if one thing I have might be useful to someone. I though there was a dept or memorial dedicated to him at Howard but I have not researched that yet. I decided at that time to take 8mm film of Jeff and some of the activities and artists who attended. Jeff even partially funded some film when I ran out of money. I can't easily put my hands on it right now as it is I believe buried somewhere in my storage space and of course the quality is undoubtedly low as it was mostly if not wholly balck and white. My camera was an old regular 8mm with no apecial lighting. I would imagine any number of the artists may no longer be with us. I recall taking shots of a piano exhibition by one black musician that was a favorite of Jeff's and shots at a conference table with artists I would not be able to identify. Somehow we or I never got around to editing and putting it together to see what we had. I would guess that I have maybe 5 or 6 reels possibly with no idea how they have held up all this time. If you think there would be interest in this material I would entertain your suggestions. Accessibility in the near term is questionable in terms of my time.
