Does anyone know which year this painting was done?

two paintings
james becker (06/09/2008)
My wife bought the paintings at a yard sale about 5 years ago, they are both signed by Joe Grandee. One painting was done in 1969 and is a Native American holding a rifle with a white horse in the background. The other was done in 1970 and is a lone cowboy on horseback heading off a stampede during a storm. We love the paintings and since we live in Arizona the paintings are right at home. We are, however, interested in any information on the paintings.

cj lebrun (11/05/2007)
We are framing a print signed, numbered and has a personal note on it. We can't seem to find a picture of it anywhere. It has a embossed seal First offical texas artist. It is a civil war seen with the texas flag up front and the confederate flag in the background. A general with long silver hair on horse back leding the charge across a creek. Does anyone know the name for this print as it dosen't have one on it. Maybe late 70's early 80's any help would be appreciated.

I inherited several Joe Grandee prints from a Texas native - they are signed but I cannot tell if the signatures are genuine or just copies..I live in a remote area where it is hard to find anyone knowledgeable enough to help. If signatures are genuine what would the values be? Help anyone? "thanks so much.

"His Last Hunt"
misty mercer (04/10/2004)
I have a painting by Joe Grandee titled "His Last Hunt". This has been in my family for a very long time and was personalized and signed by Joe Grandee himself to my great grandparents. I was just curious to know if anyone knew how much this painting may be worth today, or how to get an appraisal?

Joe Ruiz Grandee

My Mother is the owner of an oil painting by Grandee. It is approx. 80" X 44" in the original frame, and shows 'wagons being pulled by mules'. The painting was obtained from the Warner Brother Studios, in, I believe, the 1950's, after it was used as a background for the TV series "Death Valley Days", when Ronald Regan was the host. I hope this helps to add to his history. Maybe someone can tell me more about the painting and it's value?

The people asking about the Joe Grandee Oils Recently
Nick Penachio (09/12/2002)
To my two friends asking about the oil paintings. There are atleast two books about Joe Grandees art works. One is covered in calf hide they would probably tell about your artworks with a story of what Joe Grandee was thinking or a little history of the painting. May even tell who owned the painting when book was published.

I have a wonderful print by Grandee called, Ira Hayes, His Dream, His Reality. It shows Ira Hayes on horseback with an inset picture of the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima in the background. I would like to know more about the print and an approx. value.

1973 "C" Calvary Print
John Reardon (06/09/2001)
I have a signed print by Joe Grandee dated 1974. The print is of calvalry troop "C" ...It shows four troopers and a scout with arrows coming in. I bought the framed print in 1974 because it reflected my life somewhat. Can anyone tell me more about this particular print ?

An interesting story about Joe Grandee
Nick Penachio (05/27/2001)
I remember being a boy and hearing that a friend of my Dads was coming to New York from Texas to be on television. I was very young at the time perhaps 5 or 6 so this was 1965 or 1966 and Joe Grandee was going to be on the Tonight Show showing paintings that we had in our house. So he comes up to New York and takes the train out to the suburbs and guess how he is dressed?? He comes dressed like a cowboy with a leather frilled jacket, goatee and cowboy hat. I just couldn't believe it to meet Joe Grandee the man who painted the pictures in my house.
