Major Felton and Jack Frost
JD (03/10/2010)
What I have found thus far is: They were two different men. Frost was a writer and Felton did many sketches for Frost's books. I welcome any feedback as I do wish to have history of this secretive group.

Joe Don (04/07/2009)
The original you purchased was part of the estate sale. I don't think it was used as an illustration. the peice I have is nude partially behind a dressing partition. I knew Major's wife in her final years. Who did you purchase it from? JD

I also have an original Major Felten. It is a painting of a man and a woman embracing, with a chandelier in the foreground. It was purchased in the 1980s in Santa Fe, NM. I would like to know more about the artist and the painting. I don't know if it was used as an illustration or not.

Hi, I too have the FLOWERS OF EVIL by Charles Baudelaire, A 1st edition book but it's signed by Major Felton. I would love to have the signature verified by one of his relatives. Could any of you guys do this?

Jack Frost's Wife
John Juechter (12/12/2007)
My interest is in looking up an old friend. It is my understanding that an old sweetheart of mine, Marjorie Morris of Newton, married Jack Frost, the illustrator, and that they lived for a while thereafter in Natick or Framingham. Can anyone add anything to this quest?

Jack Frost/ Designer-Historiographer
Jennifer Dillree (09/10/2007)
I live on Cape Cod MA. I recently came across a signed sketch of Bristol, England, "The Queen's Chamber", and "Gateway to America" 1976 I also have a business card with a personal note on it. Both are from Jack Frost, from 1996. I used to wait on him at the coffee shop he used to frequent across from where he lived in Orleans. He died not long after. I've decided to look up info on him. I've found many of his books, but was curious about his history. At first I thought I found him, but this John (Jack) Frost apparently died in 1937. Did John Frost have any sons? The Jack Frost I knew was a Historiographer with Hawthorne Press. Any info would be helpful. Thank you!

Major Felton, Jack Frost,published illustrators
Christine Zaczynski (06/21/2006)
I would love to hear from anyone who has any information about these 2 men. Major Felton was my Grand Aunts' first husband. I have several of his works, as well as an origional illustration done by Jack Frost for his book Harvard @ Cambridge A Sketch Book. I also have one of the origional or first copies of FLOWERS OF EVIL by Charles Baudelaire, translated by Lewis Piaget Shanks and illustrated by my grand uncle Major Felton IVES WASHBURN NEW YORK 1931. My family has all passed away now and as I grow older I am trying to put together as much info as I can about my ancestors I have found out that they were a pretty impressive lot. I would like to be able to share this knowledge with my children and hope they enjoy the researching as much as I am.

I posted a comment regarding an artist named Jack Frost and his relationship with my great uncle, Major Felton. Since then I found out the origional Jack Frost illustration I have was another Jack Frost This Man was also an illustrator and author one of his Published books is called Fancy This- A CAPE COD SKETCH BOOK, another is A NEW ENGLAND SKETCH BOOK. The one I am most interested in is called HARVARD AND CAMBRIDGE A SKETCH BOOK BY JACK FROST. This one has the print I have the origional of . I am still trying to find out the relationship between Major and Jack Frost. I believe they may have spent time together at my Great Aunts house in Weston during the 1930's. It was a well known hang out for artists and many famous, or soon to be famous actors i.e. Humphrey Bogart. Would love to hear from anyone who might know anything about them . They lived on Steephill RD in Weston CT. My great aunt remarried and her second husband was a concert pianist, Franklin Coates. As I said before my home in Suffield Ct. where I grew up burned down taking all my childhood memories, and when Aunt Connie died her estate was sold and her home and business The Weston School of Music was demolished before I could get there. I would love to hear from anyone who might be able to fill in some info on my past. I have been in touch with a wonderful man and his wife who are trying to help me. But anyhing or anyone else please help me. Thank you Phil for starting me on this quest.
