Although he painted genre subjects, street scenes, and rural episodes, of ingratiating quality, his canvases depicting military scenes, and his lithographs glorifying the wars of Napoleon, were what brought him fame.----Examples of his work can be seen in the Louvre at Paris."
Another cyclopedia states "Charlet was an influential teacher as well as one of the most popular printmakers of his day."
