Pablita Velarde and E.J.Austen (1933)Gene Meier
I am writing the first book from the American point of view about 19th century rotunda panoramas. These were the biggest paintings in the world, 50 x 400=20,000 square feet, housed in their own rotundas which were 16-sided polygons. Chicago in 1893 had 6 panorama companies and 6 panorama rotundas.According to WIKIPEDIA, Helmuth Naumer (1907-1990) together with Pablita Velarde and E.J.Austen in 1933 were commissioned by the National Park Service to create works for the newly built visitor center exhibits in Frijoles Canyon in Bandelier National Monument. WHO WAS WHO IN AMERICAN ART says that Austen died 1930. I seek documentation regarding Austen's work with Velarde and Naumer in 1933--and his obituary.

I have a painting signed Velarde, dated "76". There is an initial in front of Velarde. I believe it to be a T. Did Pablita Velarde, ever sign any of her work, as such.
