My House in Collingswood with PaintingsPhyllis R.
I currently own a number of paintings by Raphael Senseman. I started purchasing them after learning that I was living in the same house raising my children that he did. I found the information at Collingswood Library. I lived in that historic house for 33 years and I was always proud to display his painting, especially knowing that he painted them in my house.
Wanting to know about my Raphael Senseman watercolorGail Elliott
I have a lovely watercolor by Raphael Senseman, signed and framed, sealed so I can't see beneath it for more detail. Autum trees, small blue pool area lower left hand cornor, sloaping banks along a winding trail that ends into a brighter horizon. I can't see any pictures on line of it but I'm interested in knowing more. Sound familiar to anyone?

I grew up across the street from the Sensemans in the 1950's-60's. Remember going in their twin house and in a back dark room seeing him sitting there with art equipment everywhere! Then his daughter Marsha? I think moved in with her kids. We had several paintings as did most people's homes in the neighborhood. Grandmom said he sold them door to door.

If Kathleen M. Hutchinson reads this, I to am the great-grand daughter of Raphael Senseman. My grandfather was William Raphael Senseman. I heard about that sell of all those paintings. I am sorry that you didn't get any. My mom has a few of Raphaels paintings and she has some of his uncles (Lippincott). they are not worth as much I'm sure but they are something to treasure. My name is Kara Jolie if any of the family would like to contact me that would be nice. Enjoy history through art!!

My parents had one of his signed oil paintings. I seem to remember that my mother told me that he liked to visit our home on Alloway Creek where he would sit down by the creek with his easel and paint. This might have been in the 40's, or perhaps earlier.

For my Great Uncle's paintings.
I have a painting that hung in my grandparents livingroom forever. I have early childhood memories surrounding this picture of a fisherman and a woman in a boat. The woman is steering with a paddle while he rests. My great-grandparents may have known your uncle according to family. Do your paintings depict people or landscape?
