Value of a piece of work
Alyson Platten (01/30/2013)
I have a piece of art from Richard that was made in the early 70s. Maybe late 60s Its from the Jackie Gleason show. Its dancing pelicans sculptured on drift wood. Its signed Gaige. The card on the back of it reads Richard T Gaige, Coral Gables Fl. Just curious of the value of this piece of work. Thank you Alyson

Possible Richard Gaige art
Peter Swan (02/01/2012)
Mrs. Gardner - I grew up in the upper Fla Keys and my mother, June Swan, an amateur artist herself, was friends with an artist named Gaige. I have two pieces hanging in my kitchen by this Gaige, both involve whimsical pelicans done in white plaster on driftwood. Could that be your father's work?

Trying to locate artist Richard Gaige
Dane Ann Smith-Johnsen (08/27/2011)
As a child, I lived next door to an artist named Richard Gaige. That was in Coral Gables, Florida during the late fifties until I joined the Army in 1967. When I went home on leave, he had moved. No one had his address. He was a wonderful friend for a child who enjoyed watching him paint and eating his mother's ginger snaps. I wish I could locate him. He used to let me watch him paint because I could sit perfectly still for a long time and NOT interrupt his work. He inspired me. Now, I also enjoy painting. He told me when I was a child that I was an artist, but I didn't believe him. I wish he could see me now...and my work. I would love to thank him. I know this is a long shot, but I was hoping. Sincerely, Dane Ann (formerly) Crawford Does anyone know if this artist is the same person?
