"late afternoon" simkha simkhovitchcandace crawford
I have a picture that looks to have age to it. It has Late afternoon that looks to be in pencil on bottom left corner and signed on bottom right. It is 8 1/2" x 13 1/2". When I bought it at auction I just assumed it was a print. Now looking closer it doen't look like a print. I took an eraser to a corner and it comes off black. This looks to be done in pencil done on a sepia tone background with the white gouache highlights. Does anyone know if he did anything like this, or if it is a print? It has age to it back of paper quite browning. It is unframed. Thanks in advance for any help. ccc
Simkhovitch Self Portrait?Sandra
I work in the Fine Art Department of Heritage Auction Galleries. We currently have two (2) paintings by Simkhovitch; one is purported to be a self-portrait and another is purported to be of his wife (with his two children in the background.) We cannot make the self-portrait/family claim until we find images of Simkovitch and his wife. Please view auction records on AskART to find more info about them.

I am Simka's great nephew and I just found your posting. I just moved to Norwalk, and I would very much like to learn about the history of Simka Simkhovitch and see some of his art. If you wish to reach me please email. Hope you find your portrait!
Looking for Simkhovitch PortraitBarbara Gregoire
Hi, I am looking for a portrait, done approximately in 1943 by Simka Simkovitch, of myself and my little sister at ages 8 and 9 dressed in twin dresses with blue and rose straw Easter bonnets on. The painting was done in oils. My sister also posed for him as did my father for one of his murals. We were neighbors of his on Hillside Road in Greenwich, Connecticut. Any information would be appreciated, even from Naomi. Thank you.

I am looking for the whereabouts of a portrait painted by Simkha Simkhovitch c. 1926-1927 of Mrs. Francis E. Corbett. The painting was shown at Marie Sterner Galleries in 1927. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
