Stephen Etnier in MuseumGeorg R. Sheets
Stephen Etnier was a resident of South Harpswell, Maine during the last years of his life, and the Farnsworth Museum lists numerous Etnier paintings in its permanent collection. A catalog published by the Museum states Etnier studied with Rockwell Kent in 1929 and also with John Carroll. Etnier exhibited at the Midtown Gallery in New York City in 1953, according to the publication and at the Milch Galleries from 1966-1980.
Paintings in the museum's collection include, Day's Inn, 1950; Mid-Channel Bell, 1954; Willows, 1965, and Study for Sailmaker, Nassau, 1970.

Several fine examples of his early oils hang in Martin Memorial Library in Downtown York, PA. The Historical Society of York County published an exhibition catalogue for are retrospective held there.
