NEW Art Book may include Vincent Van Gogh
Les Fox (06/18/2011)
N.Y. Times bestselling authors Les and Sue Fox are doing research for a new book titled "The Art Buyers Handbook" to be published in 2011 or 2012. This book will feature stories of real people who bought valuable art at garage sales, flea markets, local auctions and estate sales. Did you know that a masterpiece by Joseph Decker ("Ripening Pears") was bought at a garage sale in 2001 for $5, and sold to the National Gallery Of Art in 2004...for $1,000,000? If you or someone you know has purchased a genuine painting by Vincent Van Gogh for a fraction of its AskArt value , we would like to publish your story in our book. Your name will be kept confidential, unless you want us to publish it. The facts must be verified, and we will need photos of your painting (original oil or watercolor, not a print, lithograph or limited edition.) Thank you. Les Fox. Do you know if Vincent Van Gogh ever signed his paintings Van Gogh only? I noticed that most of them are signed Vincent.

Pont de Langlois
Dave (10/24/2007)
I recently purchased a print ( I believe it t be a print) of the subject Van Gogh at a antique store in Vermont. The thing I find odd about it is the signature includes both the title of the painting (which I cannot find in any version of the painting I have seen), and Vin cent written with a space between Vin and cent but looks quite like the authentic signature, is it possible it could be a signed print ( appears quite old) or is this just something done post printing? Am I naive?

Starry Night
Aimee (09/20/2007)
I'm doing a research paper on The Starry Night by Van Gogh, and I have a few questions which I can't seem to find the answers to. Has it been restored? Was it ever damaged or stolen? Where was it before The MOMA got it? Does it have a sense of time? Is there a horizon or vantage point? If there is a vantage point- why? What is its surface quality- smooth, textual, soft??? Where does this fit in Van Gogh's oeuvre? Is there a real point to the painting or was it merely created for beauty? THANK YOU

Vincent
Laura Cesario (08/07/2004)
Vincent , my favorite artist of all times. He died with a bullett in his brain , had such a short life, Lord only knows what he could have accomplished had he lived. I think Vincent was far to complex for those around him to understand at that time, today he could have received help & we would have been able to enjoy much more art from him. What a shame, & sad ending for such a wonderful artist. Much love to you Vincent,R.I.P.
