Frank Virga

Artist Biography and Background

Recognized in high school for his exceptional artistic talent his still life paintings were exhibited in the famous Lever House Building in New York City, 1968.
Desirous to help people he pursued a degree in the Medical Arts receiving a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University in 1975.
While practicing for 30 years helping his patients he also studied the Fine Arts at various Art Schools like the Student Art League in New York City and also studied independently. He learned the skills and techniques of the Classical Old Master Painters.
In 2005 in order to immerse himself in the Fine Arts full-time he retired from Dentistry. Frank paints in many genre but loves Painting figurative, realistic, emotional paintings, depicting life's most memorable moments. He paints primarily in glazed layers of oil paint.
Frank adheres to his own path even though critics abound. His goal is to move the viewer so they may relate to the human condition in his painting and by owning the painting can add value to their lives. He wishes to arouse feelings, explore sensitive issues, and make powerful statements, to communicate with them, to make people see things in a new light and make a difference.
Frank lives with his wife of over 35 years in Massapequa New York and paints in his studio every day. His paintings can be found in many private collections and their value has steadily increased over the years.

Artist Statement
"A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words". Inspired by my favorite old masters like Caravaggio and Rembrandt and countless others I wish to bring their style into the 21st century. With every bushstroke of oil on canvas using highly emotional, inspirational, and passionate moments in time, I try to speak to what makes us all human our Souls. If I have accomplished this I have done my job well!!
