Artist Statement
Art has been a part of my life since childhood. My first sculpting medium was the soft doughy insides of my mother's biscuits. My mother's reply to my artistic endeavors of dough bunnies, rabbits at the table was "June, eat your food don't play with it". I continued my art interest by taking classes in all school grades. My after school time was spent working for an architect. While answering phones and typing I learned to design and draw floor plans for houses to scale. My summers were spent painting faces on mannequins for a local mannequin manufacturer and restorer. After receiving a scholarship to New York University, I spent my young adult years in New York designing and styling shoes for a well-known upscale shoe company. At this time I also took advantage of all the great institutions of Art Education available. I met and married my New York bred husband and after the birth of our daughter we left New York and moved to Atlanta, Ga. For the next fifteen years, I owned and operated three exclusive retail clothing stores and during this time, I designed floor plans for several luxury custom homes built by my husbands company.  After one day making a decision to sculpt as a career I started sculpting as much as time would allow. In 1997 I began going to Pietrasanta, Italy to learn to carve marble and alabaster. In 1999  upon moving to Scottsdale, Arizona, I continued my art studies and began to market myself as a sculptor. I am an "on going" art student while working as a professional artist. Having developed a quality clientele from New York to California and Australia, I feel honored to share my work with collectors.
