| Herbert "Andy" S. Anderson was born in Chicago, IL in 1893. “Andy“ Anderson left home at age 16 to work as a cowboy. While out on the range, he began carving old, weather-beaten cowpokes. In 1927 he moved to Los Angeles where he worked as a carpenter and later as a designer for the Brayton Laguna Pottery Company. He died on Aug. 20, 1960.
