Born in Tamaroa, IL on May 19, 1906, Arthur Forbes Ames studied at the California School of Fine Art under Boynton. One of the struggling artists of the 1930s whose career was launched by the Federal Art Project, he and his fiancée, Jean Goodwin, designed mosaic panels for the patio of the Newport Harbor High School in 1937.
They were married in 1940 and continued collaborating on murals and public decorations in southern California. During the 1950s he taught at Otis Art (showing 500 of 1080 characters). |
