| The following is from the artist, March 2004.
Brian Ajhar was born on September 1st 1957 in Easton, Pennsylvania. He has been illustrating for magazines, book publishers and advertising agencies for over 20 years. He is a graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York City where he studied under teachers such as Dave Passalaqua, Burne Hogarth, Stuart Shedlesky, John Gundelfinger.
His watercolor and ink illustrations are known for their whimsical satire and are influenced by 19th-century European political satirists and book illustrators. His work has appeared in publications that include Time, Newsweek, Forbes, Fortune, US News & World Report, Rolling Stone and Sports Illustrated.
He has worked on several children's projects including New York Times Bestseller, "The Giggler Treatment" written by Roddy Doyle and published by Scholastic; "Rover Saves Christmas" also by Roddy Doyle; a Rabbit Ears video production of "Pinocchio" narrated by Danny Aiello which aired on Showtime; the book "Scarlett Angelina Wolverton-Manning" by Jacqueline Ogburn; and "A Burst of Firsts: Doers, Shakers and Record Breakers" by J. Patrick Lewis for Dial Books.
Books published in September 2004 include "Home on the Range" published by Dial Books and "The Meanwhile Adventures" by Roddy Doyle published by Arthur Levine Books. He has taught illustration at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is a guest lecturer and professor at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.
