| Often confused with art scholar at the Metropolitan Museum and painter Edith R. Abbot, Edith Abigail Abbott was an educator, painter, designer and craftsperson. She held teaching positions at Mount Holyoke College and Columbia University, and residences included New York City, Rockport, Massachusetts, 1947; and La Jolla, California, 1959.
She studied at the University of Vermont, Mount Holyoke College, and Columbia University. Memberships were La Jolla Art Center, Daytona Beach Art Association, and Rockport Art Association.
