Biography from AskART:

First attracting attention in the late 1950s for moving away from Abstract Expressionism and thick impasto, he adopted a flatter, less painterly style. He was much influenced by the stain methods of Helen Frankenthaller and Morris Louis as well as Pop Artists of the 1960s.

Many of his works are large scale with abstract shapes.
