A painter of landscapes, still lifes, and flowers, Elizabeth Alke was born in Columbus, Ohio and spent her career in that state, living in New Richmond with her artist husband, Stephen Alke.
Her teachers were Thomas Noble and Caroline Lord, and she attended the Cincinnati Art Academy where she was the first woman to win the Ingalls Scholarship.
Alke was a member of the Cincinnati Art Club, and the National Association of Women Artists with whom she exhibited and won a prize in 1928 (showing 500 of 939 characters). |
