| Born in Houston, TX on Dec. 3, 1912. Ella Wharton was educated at Briarcliff, Smith College, and UC Berkeley (BA, 1933). The years 1934-37 were spent in Paris as a pupil of Sonia Delaunay. Returning to California, she married Jean Alluisi and lived in Point Richmond and on the Sonoma coast before settling in Santa Cruz in 1953. Mrs. Alluisi was active as an artist there until her demise on Jan. 4, 1996. Working in oil, tempera, gouache, and acrylic, she often painted fantastic animals and im (showing 500 of 962 characters). |
