A Canadian War artist, designer and illustrator, Eric Aldwinckle was born in Oxford, England on January 22, 1909.
He came to Canada in 1922 and was apprenticed to printers in Toronto in the 1920's, also learning graphic design. In 1930 he opened his own design business, fulfilling corporate work and illustration commissions. He also served as an instructor at the Ontario College of Art and was a member of the Arts and Letters Club of Toronto.
