| | Born in Grand Rapids, MI on Sept. 28, 1881. Allen studied at the University of Michigan and the AIC. Shortly after the turn of the century, he settled in Seattle where he served as architect and director of works for the Alaska-Yukon Expo in 1909. His success with the Expo brought him to San Diego in 1911 where he served in the same capacity for the California Pacific Expo.
