Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data
compared to the extensive information about American artists.
Fred Arends was born in Arnhem, Holland in 1949. He began his
apprenticeship at the age of twelve. The first painting he ever did was
a floral still-life which he dedicated and gave to his mother. The year
1976 was a decisive one for the artist; for it was then that young
Arends first visited Arnhem’s Academy of Fine Arts.
He became
fascinated with the Realist Movement in painting and steadily developed
and refined his technique. He cites the work of 19th century
painters for (showing 500 of 788 characters). |
