George C. Aid (1872-1938)
Born in Quincy, Illinois, George Charles Aid spent his early youth in that city on the Mississippi. Circa 1880 he moved with his family to St. Louis, where he attended the School of Fine Art. He was staff artist for St. Louis newspapers, and in 1899 went on to study in Paris at the Academie Julian, with the influential painter Benjamin Jean-Joseph Constant and t (showing 500 of 7739 characters). |
