| Born in Heysham, England on Sept. 11, 1874. At age six Gertrude immigrated to Oakland with her family. She studied under her father J. H. E. Partington who became a well-known portraitist in the San Francisco Bay area. At the turn of the century she was an illustrator for the San Francisco Examiner doing society and court room sketches, and then went to Paris for further study at Académie Delecluse and with G. X. Prinet. While in Paris she exhibited at the Salon and (showing 500 of 2594 characters). |
