The following biographical data is from Rich Herzig, whose sources include Who's Who in American Art, 1947 and 1959, and Kimball's Auction and Estate Service, who handle the estate of the artist.
James Apostle was a rising star in the art world in the late 1940’s . In fact in 1949 he was invited by Life
magazine editors to send them pictures of his work for inclusion in
their story on emerging American artists. He was too broke financially
to do so.
