| A lithographer, painter, woodcarver and teacher, James Andrus was active primarily in Utah where he earned an M.A. degree at Brigham Young University in 1943 and then taught there for thirty years until he retired in 1972. He was born in St. George, Utah and in the early 1930s was in San Diego, California where he worked in a sign shop.
From his home studio in Provo, he painted landscapes and portraits and carved small wooden horses.
